MSR, in collaboration with the Israeli Association for Emergency Medicine, the Israeli Medical Association and the National Institute for Testing and Evaluation, conducts the Board Licensing Exams for residents specializing in Emergency Medicine.
Physicians who complete their residencies in emergency medicine come to MSR for their licensing exam to be qualified as an emergency medicine specialist. The exam is intended for residents specializing in adult and pediatric emergency medicine. The exam and each of the testing stations and scenarios were developed jointly by physicians from the Israeli Association for Emergency Medicine, MSR and the National Institute for Testing and Evaluation.
The exam includes stations with simulated scenarios and oral examinations. In the simulation stations, the resident is required to independently lead treatment of a role-playing patient in a simulation of an actual work environment that includes assisting staff (physician and nurse) who are part of the testing team.
In other stations, the resident must demonstrate the capacity and skills needed of an emergency medicine specialist, such as: perform an ultrasound exam, make a diagnosis based on various test results, perform suturing, treat orthopedic injuries, and more.
The number and variety of stations makes it possible to evaluate the resident in a fair and reliable manner in a variety of challenging situations.
