Technology Unit Services

MSR’s Technology Unit is responsible for a variety of technologies that support MSR’s pedagogic, training and audiovisual debriefing systems.

The unit provides consulting and technical support for all of MSR’s units, and supplies technological solutions that improve and enhance the authenticity of the various simulation scenarios.

The unit also supports MSR’s distant learning system, and develops new technologies that keep MSR positioned at the forefront of the simulation field. MSR’s motto regarding technology is that it is the methodology that leads and guides technological solutions and not the inverse.

At its core, MSR maintains a sophisticated multimedia system that operates in parallel with its advanced simulation systems.

Solutions and Technologies

  • The SimBoost System – is MSR’s unique, core software system, developed and characterized at MSR and reflecting the extensive experience and knowledge of MSR’s staff in video-based debriefing methodologies and managing a medical simulation center. The Simboost debriefing system makes it possible to observe videos of MSR trainees in real time and provide them with feedback immediately afterward in facilitated debriefing discussions and through viewing the video of the scenario. These video files are preserved in MSR’s archives and are used to improve and promote clinical and communication proficiency and for research purposes.
  • Knowledge Management System - A Moodle based learning site complementing information studies for the simulation workshops. The platform also applies for interns and nursing exams throughout the year. The system has been developed for internship assignments with an independent ability to switch training cycles throughout the year.

  • MSR on Wheels – Portable mobile systems for operating simulation based scenarios that are adapted for clients at their site, such as a hospital, military base, and more. The systems include a video projection system, as well as programs and technologies that meet the needs of the simulation.
  • EMR  – As needed, the Technology Department creates simulative EMR (Electronic Medical Record) databases related to specific courses, including virtual computerized patient medical record comparable to those course participants actually encounter in their work environments.

  • Computerized Files – As needed, the Technology Department creates simulative databases related to specific courses, including virtual computerized patient medical files comparable to those course participants actually encounter in their work environments.
  • The Simulator System– acquisition and development of simulator equipment. Ongoing maintenance to counter wear and tear on heavily used simulators.
  • Technological Solutions for courses offered at MSR – advanced mannequins, software, three-dimensional models, computerized animations and more.
  • Central Control Room – maintains control over MSR’s entire core system. All operations, control and monitoring of MSR’s IT and audiovisual system can be carried out from the central control room.
  • Consultation on development of simulators – the unit provides consulting services on the research and development of simulators, and the establishment of new simulation centers, to different companies and organizations within and outside of Israel.
  • Building of supporting infrastructure for simulations – planning and adapting supporting infrastructures for the world of simulations content.

Simulators

The Technology Department is responsible for allocating the use of MSR’s simulator inventory, in accordance with the organization’s needs.

Advanced simulators

Advanced simulators that breathe, bleed, vomit and respond physiologically to treatment given such as medications and give feedback to procedures such as defibrilation.

Task Trainers

These simulators emulate specific tasks or procedures, from inserting a catheter to delivering a baby. The Technologies & IT Department ensures that the task trainers are used correctly according to specific needs, and is responsible for their acquisition and maintenance.

Computer-based Simulators
The department provides support for simulator platforms that emulate the medical world using software and advanced tools including realistic animation and three-dimensional modeling. These simulations are intended to improve the skills of doctors, provide scenarios that enable every stage of an operation to be planned out, and to provide safe and controlled opportunities for practicing skills.

The department also works in collaboration with schools and science and technology study tracks to develop features, products and ideas for improving the simulations.
