Magen David Adom and MRS jointly conduct the practical licensing exams for paramedics in all study tracks. Since 2004, the paramedic licensing exams have been conducted at MSR under the auspices of the National Institute for Testing and Evaluation.
Paramedics are required to demonstrate their abilities in 4 simulations of common emergency medicine scenarios, and prove they can work independently in the field. In testing stations that integrate advanced simulators and role-playing patients, paramedics must respond to accidents, cardiovascular and respiratory emergencies, treating adults and children, among others.
The paramedics give full medical treatment to the “patients” using equipment and medicines that would be found in an ambulance, and are evaluated based on their mastery of various treatment protocols, their capacity to lead a team, and their communication skills.
By offering the exam in one central location for all paramedic study tracks, MSR and Magen David Adom are able to standardize the acceptance criteria through the entire licensing process.
