Radiotherapy Basic Planning Primer – Error Prevention

About

Target Audience:
Radiation therapists with little or no planning knowledge, or who wish to have a review of core concepts. This course is also suitable for trainee dosimetrists, trainee radiation oncologists, and trainee medical physicists.

Objectives:

To gain an understanding of the core concepts of treatment planning as related to the clinical arena. To become familiar with the functions of an advanced treatment planning system. To understand the tools of plan evaluation. To improve analytical thinking.

Course Description:

This 4.5 day interactive course utilises practical demonstrations, "hands on" experience and didactic lectures to provide a sound theoretical background and support clinical knowledge.
The course content is based on the IAEA Syllabus for Radiation Therapists and the European Core Curriculum for radiation therapists. Where applicable, the core competencies outlined will be practiced.

At all times the clinical environment is emphasized, through the use of the VERT (Virtual Environment Radiotherapy Treatment Room).
Additionally, MSR-Radiotherapy has gathered a database of case-studies of real life errors and near errors, which are used to bring the clinical relevance of various topics to the forefront.

The course is limited to 24 participants, ensuring an intimate, non-threatening environment and personalized attention.
