Objectives:

  • To be able to independently perform the basic nursing skills for which     the registered nurse is responsible.
  • To stress the important patient-related information.
  • To become acquainted with the equipment needed for the correct execution of each skill reviewed in this course.
  • To learn safety principles for each skill.
  • To be able to effectively communicate with patients.
  • To be able to apply the skills acquired to the clinical setting.

Course Description:
This course is designed to enable registered nurses to practice and become better skilled in safe practice of basic nursing skills.  The course consists of five hands-on training stations, in each; a different nursing skill is practiced.

Different simulators are used, ranging in complexity from individual body parts to a human patient simulator that emulates vital signs and responds to treatment. At each station, a task trainer who is adept in teaching and practicing the relevant nursing skill, can provide feedback for the individual trainee and allow numerous repetitions of the exercise until proficiency is acquired.

Simulation training allows the trainees to repetitively perform complex procedures without compromising patient safety.
